
Yoga
Classically, Yoga is defined in Patanjali's Yoga Sutra, one of the most significant of the Yoga texts, as "citta vritti nirodahah" or "the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind". It is these "waves" that cause ALL mental and emotional pain.
The "practice" of yoga is this actual effort to direct the mind towards one-pointedness, without distraction or interruption, and to calm and steady this wild monkey that jumps around in the jungle from branch to branch. Through the physical exercises of Yoga we slowly master the body, this allows us to progress to the breathing exercises (pranayama) and meditations which bring the emotions and mind under control.
At Harmony Holistics the teachers teach a fusion of the Astanga Vinyasa Yoga (dynamic flowing) , Iyengar Yoga (alignment) and Scaravelli inspired Yoga (using gravity to release and awaken). This practice has intensity, subtly and yet allows the individual to practice at their personal level. Prepare for a workout that challenges the mind as much as the body! Classes held in Liverpool, Merseyside and south west Lancashire.
Both Mike and Angie are full teaching members of the British Wheel of Yoga (the governing body for Yoga in the UK).
