They are caused by \u2013<\/p>\n<p>1. absence of an enzyme<br \/>\n2. psychological stress<br \/>\n3. IBS<br \/>\n4. Sensitivity to food additives<br \/>\n5. Inflammation of gut when exposed to gluten<\/p>\n<p><strong>Common Foods Causing Allergies<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Milk (and dairy produce) \u2013 mainly seen in children<br \/>\n\u2022 Peanuts<br \/>\n\u2022 Tree Nuts<br \/>\n\u2022 Soy<br \/>\n\u2022 Eggs<br \/>\n\u2022 Fish<br \/>\n\u2022 Shellfish<\/p>\n<p><strong>Common Foods Causing Intolerances<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Dairy \u2013 usually caused by a sugar called lactose<br \/>\n\u2022 Gluten \u2013 a protein found in many grains, especially wheat, barley. Gluten intolerance may present as Coeliac Disease or the less severe Non Coeliac Gluten Intolerance.<br \/>\n\u2022 Caffeine<br \/>\n\u2022 Alcohol<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dealing with Allergies and Intolerances<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Allergies \u2013<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Total avoidance of allergen<br \/>\n\u2022 Desensitisation via oral immunotherapy<br \/>\n\u2022 Anti histamines (mild to moderate reactions)<br \/>\n\u2022 Adrenaline injections (severe reactions)<\/p>\n<p><em>Intolerances \u2013<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Remove or reduce consumption of foods causing symptoms \u2013 an exclusion diet may be required to identify the culprits<br \/>\n\u2022 Improve gut health generally via dietary changes and improving gut flora<br \/>\n\u2022 Treat chronic gut infections eg H Pylori or candida<br \/>\n\u2022 Add supplements to diet \u2013 especially Glutamine, N-acetyl glucosamine (NAG), Quercetin, Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice (DGL)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Difference Between Allergies and Intolerances The symptoms of both conditions may be very similar and can even confuse the experts, as both cause unpleasant symptoms and inflammation!
