{"id":76,"date":"2017-12-08T22:02:04","date_gmt":"2017-12-08T22:02:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.yoga-liverpool.co.uk\/?p=76"},"modified":"2017-12-08T22:02:04","modified_gmt":"2017-12-08T22:02:04","slug":"sirtuins-and-health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yoga-liverpool.co.uk\/?p=76","title":{"rendered":"Sirtuins and Health"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You may not know what sirtuins are \u2013 but if you have a chronic health problem and\/or are trying to lose weight, you may be interested to find out!<\/p>\n<p>Sirtuins are proteins found in the body that contain specific enzymes and regulate certain biological pathways \u2013 such as ageing, transcription (the copying of DNA on replication), apotosis (programmed cell death) and inflammation.\u00a0 Particularly important is sirtuins ability to\u00a0protect cells in the body from dying when they are under stress.<\/p>\n<p>Also sirtuins may be able to influence the body\u2019s ability to burn fat and boost metabolism leading to\u00a0weight loss.\u00a0 It is thought excess weight is both a sign of bodily inflammation AND excess weight can also stimulate inflammation.<\/p>\n<p>Well what are these \u201csuperfoods\u201d?\u00a0 Common ones include \u2013<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Green Tea<\/li>\n<li>Coffee<\/li>\n<li>Dark chocolate (that is at least\u00a090% cocoa)<\/li>\n<li>Apples<\/li>\n<li>Citrus fruits<\/li>\n<li>Parsley<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric<\/li>\n<li>Onions<\/li>\n<li>Kale<\/li>\n<li>Blueberries<\/li>\n<li>Capers<\/li>\n<li>Olive oil<\/li>\n<li>Red wine (high in polyphenols and resveratrol)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>However like all diets there is a need to have a sensible balanced eating plan, but increasingly our consumption of sirtuin stimulating foods can do nothing but good.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You may not know what sirtuins are \u2013 but if you have a chronic health problem and\/or are trying to lose weight, you may be interested to find out!
